From Chester

My daughter, Audrey, was admitted to Cerrig yr Afon in 2011. She had severe learning difficulties and had been discharged from the hospital. At the age of 52 she was a young person in an environment mainly used by older people.

However, you would not have thought that as it was such a happy place. Audrey was bedridden but she was a cheerful person with a terrific sense of humour, all the staff went out of their way to meet Audrey’s needs. She had complex medical needs but nothing was too much trouble.

The staff at Cerrig yr Afon came to love her and although her room was upstairs, she was never short of friendly visits or company to help her sing a song or two!

The nursing care was first class. Audrey idolised the male nurses especially. At the first sign of any health issues, Audrey’s GP was called. Cerrig yr Afon was always very clean and well maintained and the food was of a high standard. Audrey had very specific dietary needs that required innovation in the way her food was prepared and presented, but nothing was too much trouble for the kitchen staff.

I think the highest compliment I can pay Cerrig yr Afon is to say that I had full trust in them to look after my beloved daughter.

Dear Maggie & Staff, Just a note to thank you very much for looking after my Uncle so well. I know that he felt content and happy at Cerrig yr Afon – he also felt safe. He was always full of praise for the staff (and the food!). Whenever I visited it was obvious he was receiving a high standard of care and I was always made to feel welcome. The last time I visited him he was on good form, enjoying a concert in the lounge, eating like a horse and enjoying a chat. I take comfort in knowing that he was in a pleasant environment where he was well cared for. Once again, many thanks.

Thanks for everything, relatives Liverpool
