At Cerrig yr Afon, our varied activities programme provides plenty of opportunities to keep minds and bodies active, indulge in hobbies and find new things to enjoy. Our activity coordinator spends time getting to know the people we support to understand their interests and abilities.
All of our 55 bedrooms enjoy en-suite facilities and are ready to be personalised with treasured items to make them feel even more like home. Our main building offers a homely lounge, dining room, small library and tranquil garden room. While our annex enjoys it's own lounge and dining room.

Cerrig yr Afon Care Home is set in the beautiful countryside beside the Menai Strait. We are proud to deliver nursing care and support for older people in the local area.
I have worked in the care sector for 25 years, having started my carer as a carer in a nursing home. I was inspired to do this seeing some bad practice with my grandparents’ care.
Following this, I wanted to make sure all people have a voice, even if they can’t speak, to ensure a person-centred approach is always applied. If people didn’t have an advocate, then I would become an advocate for their care and welfare, especially when they lacked capacity to make these decisions.
I’m proud to hold a level four health and social care qualification as well as Registered Managers awards. In addition, I am train the trainer registered with the Association of Healthcare Trainers.
Having progressed from carer to team leader in a care home, I worked my way up from there to become a deputy manager and then a manager.
It’s important to me to encourage and support my team members to train, develop and progress their own careers and achieve their goals. I’m also proud to have covered nine homes in relation to health and safety and supported the management and teams at these homes.
For me, great care is ensuring that the quality of care is right and that everybody has a voice for their wishes whilst in care and that these wishes are carried out.

Just a note to thank you very much for looking after my Uncle so well. I know that he felt content and happy at Cerrig yr Afon - he also felt safe. He was always full of praise for the staff (and the food!). Whenever I visited it was obvious he was receiving a high standard of care and I was always made to feel welcome. The last time I visited him he was on good form, enjoying a concert in the lounge, eating like a horse and enjoying a chat. I take comfort in knowing that he was in a pleasant environment where he was well cared for. Once again, many thanks.
